David Cameron Affirms Ukraine's Right to Employ British Arms for Strikes within Russian Borders

During his second visit to Kyiv as foreign secretary, Lord David Cameron expressed strong backing for Ukraine's right to retaliate against Russia using British weaponry. He highlighted that it is solely Kyiv's prerogative to determine how the supplied arms are used, underscoring Ukraine's defense against the illegal incursion by Vladimir Putin's forces. Lord Cameron made it clear that there are no conditions attached to the support, affirming Ukraine's unequivocal right to counterstrike Russia.

When asked about the possibility of Ukrainian strikes inside Russia, Lord Cameron reiterated that such decisions are within Ukraine's jurisdiction. He drew a parallel to Russia's attacks within Ukraine, empathizing with Ukraine's need to protect itself and expel Russian forces from its territory. Lord Cameron's visit coincided with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's announcement of Britain's commitment to provide significant military aid, along with a pledge to enhance defense spending.

The assistance package includes precision weapons and equipment aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities against Russian drones and missiles. Lord Cameron emphasized that Ukraine's fight against Russia's invasion necessitates collective support from its allies, highlighting the UK's unwavering commitment to stand with Ukraine until victory is achieved.

This sentiment was echoed during Lord Cameron's meeting with President Zelensky, where the UK reiterated its steadfast support for Kyiv amidst the challenging military situation in eastern Ukraine.
