Kazakhstan stands poised to facilitate talks aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine, as stated by Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Russia, Dauren Abayev, in an interview with the Russian state news outlet TASS.
Abayev expressed Kazakhstan's perpetual willingness to contribute to global processes, extending beyond Ukraine and Russia to encompass issues involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, Syria, and Iran. While refraining from claiming a mediator role, Kazakhstan offers itself as a platform provider and creator of conducive conditions.
Emphasizing the indispensability of Russia's involvement, Abayev stressed the necessity of considering Russia's perspective in such discussions. He reiterated Kazakhstan's readiness to serve as a facilitator, reiterating its previous role in hosting negotiations on the Syrian conflict and the Iranian nuclear program.
Recent visits by Kazakhstan’s president Kasym-Jomart Tokayev to Azerbaijan and Armenia reaffirmed the nation's commitment to offering negotiation platforms, with talks between Baku and Yerevan slated for May 10, as disclosed by the Armenian foreign ministry.
